The Beckett Grading form serves as a crucial tool for collectors looking to have their trading cards assessed for quality and authenticity. This form outlines the submission process, ensuring that each card is evaluated according to industry standards. Upon filling out the form, collectors must provide their personal information, including name, address, and contact details. Additionally, the form requires details about each card submitted, such as the year of issue, set name, card number, and player name. Grading options are clearly defined, allowing collectors to choose between receiving a numeric grade or simply having the card authenticated. Payment details are also included, as fees vary depending on the number of cards and the chosen grading service. Furthermore, the form highlights important considerations for shipping, including insurance options and the necessity of using specific holders to protect the cards during transit. By carefully following the instructions on the Beckett Grading form, collectors can ensure a smooth submission process and receive accurate evaluations of their prized cards.

1.At this time, Beckett Grading Services accepts and grades most licensed cards up to 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Additional fees will apply to items larger then 3x5. Please note that cards showing evidence of counterfeiting, tampering, or restoration will be charged the full amount according to the service option selected. By not checking either of the “Authentic” boxes on the front of the submission form, your cards will be given a numeric grade if the cards are deemed to be gradable by BGS standards. Usual grading fees apply. Please refer to www.beckett.com/grading for updated information.

2.All submissions must be addressed to Beckett Grading Services. Improperly addressed shipments are not subject to turnaround time selected. Cards should be sent in oversized (3.25" X 5") semi-rigid holders (such as a Card Saver I). “Penny sleeves” should also be used in conjunction with the oversized semi-rigid holders. BGS will not be responsible for any damages incurred by the use of other holders.

3.All card submissions must be accompanied by a Beckett-issued submission form. All other forms, including handwritten copies, are null and void.

4.Please PRINT your name and account number (if you have one) in the upper right corner of the form. If you do not have an account number, one will be assigned to you.

6.Please be sure to notate your return shipping method of choice in the 'SHIP VIA' box. Standard shipping will be via FedEx Ground unless otherwise marked. Feel free to use your existing FedEx or UPS account # if you have one. BGS reserves the right to change carriers without notice unless a shipping account is being used.

7.List all cards you are submitting with quantity, year of issue, set name or company (please use standard Beckett terminology when possible), card number, card/player name, and your declared value per lot. You may use additional forms to list more cards, but please only choose one service level per submission form.

8.Select 'Grading Service' level. Check one level only. (See top of rules section for more details). Please separate cards based on submission levels and requirements.

9.To determine amount owed, use the 'Calculating $ to be paid to BGS' area. Total the number of cards submitted and multiply by the price per card for the grading service you select. Figure return postage and insurance using appropriate tables. Add 8.25% Sales Tax to the cost of service and shipping if you are a Texas resident only, unless the cards are for re-sale and you provide us with a valid re-sale tax ID number.

examined or processed until payment is made in full. Don't forget the expiration date, security code, and signature. All payments must be in U.S. funds. Returned checks will be assessed a $30.00 fee.

11.Be sure to include return insurance and ship to address on top of submission form. Send to the attention of 'Beckett Grading Services. Beckett will not be responsible for damages on packages sent for grading so insurance and tracking is recommended. Owner's declared value is used for determining insurance cost of the return shipment and the maximum amount that can be claimed for damage or loss in shipment for any card or cards. If a claim is necessary at any point, the value of each card will be based upon the actual market value not to exceed the insured value the customer assigned to the card.

International Customers

International customers have two options. We can send the shipment to a U.S. location and the customer can arrange shipment from there. To do this, use the shipping tables above to calculate the shipping cost and include payment with the service fee. Be sure to provide a U.S. destination address on the submission form. The other option is to receive the shipment USPS Global Express. Customers are liable for the cost on any applicable customs, duties and taxes. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in nondelivery of cards and/or penalty fees charged back to the customers. These fees can be substantial and we encourage you to investigate the costs before sending the submission. Please indicate which of these options you prefer on the shipping line (line 6) on the front of the submission form.

Always refer to the latest guidelines on the Beckett website for any updates.

  4. What happens if I don’t include payment with my submission?

Cards submitted without full payment will not be graded or processed. To avoid delays, ensure that your payment accompanies the submission form. Payment can be made via check, money order, or credit card. Remember, all payments must be in U.S. funds, and returned checks may incur a fee.

  5. Can I track my submission once it’s sent?

Yes, tracking is highly recommended. When filling out the form, you can choose your preferred shipping method. Beckett Grading Services suggests using a carrier that provides tracking and insurance to safeguard your cards during transit. This way, you can monitor your submission until it arrives at their facility.

  6. What if my cards are deemed altered or counterfeit?

If your cards are found to be altered, they will not receive a numeric grade. Instead, they will be sealed and authenticated in a standard Beckett Authentic/Altered case. If you wish only to authenticate your cards without grading, you can select that option on the form. Always check the grading criteria to understand what may affect your cards’ evaluations.

  7. How long does the grading process take?

The turnaround time for grading can vary based on the service level you select. Typically, the process takes several business days once your cards are received. For specific timelines, refer to the grading service options listed on the Beckett website. Keep in mind that during peak seasons, processing times may be longer.

Common mistakes

Filling out the Beckett Grading form can be straightforward, but many people make mistakes that can delay their submissions. One common error is failing to provide complete contact information. It's crucial to include your name, address, phone number, and email address. Missing any of these details can lead to communication issues and potential delays in processing your order.

Another frequent mistake involves not selecting the appropriate grading service level. The form requires you to check only one grading option. Selecting multiple levels can confuse the processing team and may result in your cards not being graded as intended. Always double-check your selection before submitting the form.

People often overlook the importance of declaring the correct value for their cards. This value affects insurance costs and the overall processing of your submission. If the declared value is too low, you risk underinsurance in case of loss or damage. Conversely, overvaluing your cards can lead to unnecessary fees. Accuracy here is key.

Additionally, many submissions lack payment details or include incorrect payment methods. Ensure that you fill out the payment section completely, whether you are paying by check, money order, or credit card. Missing or incorrect payment information can halt the grading process and delay the return of your cards.

Using inappropriate holders for your cards is another mistake that can lead to damage during shipping. The guidelines specify that cards should be sent in oversized semi-rigid holders. Failing to follow this can result in your cards being damaged, which could affect their grade.

Lastly, neglecting to read the terms and conditions can lead to misunderstandings about the grading process. Familiarize yourself with the rules and instructions provided on the form and the website. This knowledge can prevent costly mistakes and ensure a smoother experience with Beckett Grading Services.
